Forever Character Names: What Is Actually Unique
Forever uses a two-part name: players can share a first name, while the complete first-and-secondary-name combination is unique across the region.

What Blizzard confirmed
- Every character has a first name and a secondary name; the complete two-name combination is what must be unique.
- Name uniqueness is regional rather than tied to a traditional realm.
- You can hide your own secondary name through Options, Nameplates, and My Secondary Name, though it still appears in chat.
- Early Name Reservation runs October 27 through November 3, 2026 for eligible upgrade purchases and is first come, first served.
Why this matters for players
Coordinate both parts of your intended name before reservation opens. A familiar first name may still be available when paired with a different secondary name, but the full regional combination can only belong to one character. Keep a few complete alternatives ready instead of preparing only one surname.
